Eighteen year old, Maleesha Silva is a Grade Thirteen Student of St.Sylvesters’ College, Kandy who is studying in the Commerce Stream is an outstanding sportsman of the School. A ruggerite, Athlete and Cricketer. Maleesha started Cricket in the year 2014 under the coaching of Julian Arnolda in School and he showed his talent at the Under 13 Cricket tournament as an all-rounder to claim Fifteen wickets and to score Three Half Centuries as a Left Arm Spinner and a left Hand batsman. In the following year he scored three fifties and claimed Sixteen wickets in the same tournament. In his third year as the Captain of the Under 13 Cricket team in the Cricket tournament in 2016 he scored a total of 410 runs including a fine Century in the Second Round Match against Nalanda College and three fifties in his Third year at the Under 13 Level and he was coached by Sanjeewa Bandara.

In the year 2017 he continued as an Under 15 player under the coaching of Anura Halangoda to score 267 runs including Two fiftees and to claim Fourteen wickets at the Schools Cricket Tournament. in the following year in 2018 he played in the same Tournament to score 375 Runs including a Century against St.Anthonys’ College, he scored Two half centuries and claiming Eighteen wickets. In 2019 at the Under 17 Level he played under the coaching of Krishantha Gunawardena claiming Twenty One wickets during the Season including 4 for 18 against St. Peters’ College,Colombo. He represented the School First XI team from 2017 to date and in 2020 he scored 489 runs the highest score being Seventy Eight against St.Thomas’ Matara as a 4th year player. He scored 175 runs in Five matches the highest being 65 runs against St.anthonys’ Wattala and as a Fifth year player he scored 737 runs this year including Six half Centuries against St. Thomas’ Matara, Zahira, Colombo, Dharmasoka, Ambalangoda.
St.Aloysius, Galle and Kingswood, Kandy. Maleesha led his side to victory at the ‘Big Match’ against Vidyartha college and he scored 50 runs and received the ‘Best Batsman’ award and the ‘Man of the Match’ award. He has played Rugby for the School team as No.Eight from the Under 13 level to Under 19 level and he is also an Athlete who excelled in several Athletic events. He is prepairing for the coming Provincial Cricket tournament under the coaching lof Roshan Jayatissa. Maleesha is thankful to all his Coaches for the improvement of his Cricket Career and his intention is to become a National & International player.
