Educare Foundation donates books to students in Anuradhapura

A group of schoolchildren from the Anuradhapura district received exercise books and educational  equipment donated by the Educare Foundation.

Donating exercise books and educational equipment among the schoolchildren belonging to low income group families in Anuradhapura district is a highly meritorious and a commendable deed, Anuradhapura Government Agent Janaka Jayasundara said.

He was speaking at a ceremony where books and educational equipment were distributed to schools at Nelubewa, Thalawa, Mudunemaga, Ganthiriyagama, Rajangane on April 18.

Books and educational equipment were also donated to Swarnapali Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Walisinghe Harishchandra Maha Vidyalaya, D. S. Senanayake Model Primary School, Kaleththewa Maha Vidyalaya, Kurundankulama Maha Vidyalaya, Mahinda Model Primary School, Ambagahawewa Vidyalaya and Mankadawala Maha Vindayalaya on April 19.

This programme was organised and coordinated by the District Coordinating officer for Non-Governmental Organisations R. M. S. Rathnayake on the instructions of the Anuradhapura Government Agent.

A group of graduates from the Sri Jayawardhanapura University had spent around Rs. two million for the implementation of the programme through the Educare Foundation. A Educare Foundation Spokesman told the Daily News that they launched this programme in gratitude of the Free Education System.

North Central Education Department Anuradhapura District J'pura Graduates Association has supported the programme. The organisers said that more than 500 students received books and stationery packages worth around Rs.4,000 each.

The Educare Foundation has been providing assistance to schools since 2017.
