Kandy businessmen stage protest

 

Businessmen in Kandy staged a protest yesterday (05) by closing all their shops, saying that they could not run their businesses due to the mismanagement of the economy and as a result their employees risk losing their jobs.

A number of traders association in Kandy, including the Sinhala, Hindu and Muslim fronts, joined the protest.

Businessmen closed their businesses at 10 a.m. and arrived at Dalada Veediya and Yatinuwara Veediya in Kandy with their employees and protested for about two hours.

Senior Vice President of the Sinhala Traders Front of Kandy Yasas Chandrasekara said that the protest against the Government ended at 12.00 noon with business premises reopening after that.
