All exams question papers will be printed - Education Minister

The Minister of Education Dinesh Gunawardena on Wednesday assured that adequate amount of papers were available for the preparation of question papers for the main examinations.
 
He said if needed steps will be taken to import additional papers.
 
He said that the main examination to be held next was the GCE Ordinary Level and that the necessary papers have been already prepared to print question papers.
 
He was speaking to the media after calling on the Asgiriya Mahanayake Thero in Kandy.
 
He said that the GCE Advanced Level examination was held despite many obstacles and added the results would be released earlier in order to accelerate the process of university admissions.
 
The Minister of Education said that due to the covid situation, several examinations could not be held on time and it was planned to hold the GCE Advanced Level examination before the end of this year and resume the normal examination schedule.
 
He said that steps have already been taken to increase the number of students admitted to universities and accordingly 10,000 more students will be enrolled this year and he hopes to start several additional faculties in universities.
 
He said that an additional 100 students will be admitted to the medical faculties this year and a new medical faculty will be established at the Uva Wellassa University.
