Kurunegala District Paddy farmers will get adequate organic manure for the Yala season as the registered district supplier has already produced adequate stocks of organic manure.
The Kurunegala District needs 8,000 metric tonnes of organic fertilizer for the Yala season.
The supplier will provide 7,000 metric tonnes of organic manure and the rest will be provided by local farmers under the guidance of the Agricultural Ministry. About 2,000 farmers are producing organic manure in the Kurunegala District while 7,500 farmers are learning how to produce and apply organic manure for their paddy, vegetable and fruit cultivations.
“The farmers have been granted Rs. 2.5 million to produce organic fertlizer,” Kurunegala District Senior Agriculture Director R.M. Jayasekara said at a paddy farmers’ meeting yesterday (20) at the Bingiriya Agrarian Services Centre.
