Medicinal saplings planted in Nilgala Forest Reserve

A special programme to plant 2,700 medicinal saplings in the Nilgala Forest Reserve, Maha Oya, Ampara under the guidance of Eastern Province Governor Anuradha Yahampath was launched on Thursday.

It was initiated to realise the concept of increasing the national forest cover by 30 per cent from 27 per cent as envisaged in the Policy Statement of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa - the Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour.

Nature's Secrets also donated a stock of herbs. Medicinal plants were also distributed among schoolchildren. Indigenous Aboriginal Leader Uruwarige Vannila Aththo also participated in the event.

Navidaveli Army Camp Commanding Officer, Mahaoya Civil Defence Force Commanding Officer, Mahaoya Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) Chairman, Divisional Secretary, Nature's Secrets Project Director, Provincial Road Transport Authority, Provincial Officers were present.
