Fire ruins firecracker factory

A fire broke out at a firecracker factory at Mahamudali Mawatha, Dadella in Galle yesterday (February 2) afternoon and it was completely destroyed. One of the employees also was injured and hospitalized, Galle Police said.

As soon as the fire was reported, the Galle Municipal Council Fire Brigade rushed to the spot and put out the fire.

The police further said that although the fire had damaged the firecracker factory, the gun powder depot had not been damaged. The Galle Police Crime Investigation Bureau is conducting investigations on the instructions of HQI Kapila Senapathy de Silva.
