Colombo and Jaffna recorded victories in their National Super League (NSL) cricket fixtures played yesterday. Colombo who scored 144 for 4 wickets defeated Dambulla in their game played at P. Sara Oval grounds while Kandy led by Kamindu Mendis played their first game of this tournament making a comprehensive six wickets win over Jaffna in their game played at SSC grounds.
Charith Asalanka, who did not play in the first game gave a good all-around performance with an unbeaten 52, and taking 2 for 19 guided Colombo to win. He also led the Colombo side yesterday. The opener Kusal Mendis also made 67 for winning the Colombo side.
Meanwhile, Kandy chasing a target of 247 runs, reached their required runs with six wickets in hand in 39.4 overs. Skipper Kamindiu Mendis scored an unbeaten 57 in 40 balls while opener Niroshan Dikwella scored 69 in 45 balls striking 7 fours and 4 sixes leading the way to their victory.
