Australia has announced the team for the T20 series (Australia vs Sri Lanka) yesterday. The team has to play a 5-match series against Sri Lanka next month. David Warner and Mitchell Marsh have not got a place in the team. In view of the Pakistan tour, both the players have been rested.

At the same time, young batsman Ben Mcdermott has been given a place. He is the only batsman to score more than 500 runs in the current season of Big Bash League. Apart from this, Travis Head, who performed brilliantly in the Ashes series, has also been included in the team.

In view of the Pakistan series, some members of other support staff including head coach Justin Langer have also been rested. The role of coach for the series against Sri Lanka will be Andrew McDonald. Talking about Ben McDermott, he has so far scored 577 runs in the Big Bash League in 13 innings at an average of 48. Ben has scored two centuries and three half-centuries.

He has maintained a strike rate of 154 while hitting 46 fours and 29 sixes. His father Craig McDermott was counted among good fast bowlers. He struck 291 in 71 Tests. He also took 677 wickets in first class cricket.

The 5-match T20 series between Australia and Sri Lanka is starting from February 11. Other matches are to be played on February 13, 15, 18 and 20.
