A goal on the brink of full time helped Black Square to force a one-all draw against Moragasmulla in their Inter club under-19 soccer tournament match played for the ‘Expolanka Youth Cup’ at City Football League yesterday.
After trailing 0-1 until the last minute of the three minutes extra time, due to a goal keeping lapse, Black Square’s Mohamed Ziyad’s 30 metre free kick sneaked through the rival goal keeper’s hand to ensure a draw.
The Moragasmulla team scored their goal in the 18th minute of the first half through Tharuka Ashantha, which stood unchanged until the equaliser by Black Square. Tharusha Rashimika the Moragasmulla goal keeper who did an exceptional job until this blunder, completely mistimed his jump when attempting to hold on to the ball which deprived his team victory which was within their grasp.
Meanwhile, in the other game Cooray edged out Young Silver by 1 goal to nil. The solitary goal was scored by D.Wijesinghe in the 58th minute. (AN)
