MCA ‘D’ Division tourney reaches knock out stage

Mercantile Cricket Association D Division 40 overs League Tournament 2022 has reached its knock out stage and Ceylon Biscuits Limited CBL will be sponsoring for second consecutive year.

The league stage of the tournament was completed on the 15th January and the quarter finalâ will be worked off on 22nd and 23rd January while the semi finals will be played on 29th January and the final will be played on 5th February at the MCA grounds. This tournament which is in progress is conducted with nine teams, pooled into two groups contested for the CBL Munchee Trophy.

GroupA the team are AIA Insurance, Airport And Aviation Services, Nawaloka Hospitals and National Development Bank while on group ‘B’ Delmage Group, Melwire Rolling, David Peeiris Group A, Hemas Holdings and Allianz Insurance. Previously Maliban Biscuits Ltd won the CBL Munchee Trophy by beating Nawaloka Hospitals by 6 runs.

The tournament is conducted in 2 stages consisting 23 matches including the final and there are special awards on offer are for the Best batsman, Best bowler and the Man Of the final and Man Of The Series. At the sponsorship handing over ceremony on Friday the President MCA Nalin Wickeramasinghe thanked the Ceylon Biscuits Ltd for sponsoring the tournament for the second consecutive year and the excellent support given to MCA.

Romesh Jayathillake the Marketing Manager CBL stressed that his company always giving helping hand by sponsoring and giving their support to all the sports in the country to produce excellent sports men and women in future.
