North and Southern entrepreneurs strike new biz deals

Several new business deals were sealed between North and South Entrepreneurs at the 12th Edition of the three day Jaffna International Mega Trade Fair concluded in Jaffna yesterday

The Jaffna International Trade Fair is the most anticipated platform for small and medium entrepreneurs to introduce their products to the population of the North and many SME companies were able to meet buyers from the South to distribute their products in the South.

Governor Northern Province Jeevan Thiagarajah who was the Chief Guest appealed for both South and North Businesses to have a closer relationship in knowledge and product sharing which would bring numerous benefits to all. Several new organic fertiliser producers for the first time also showcased their products which were very popular. The Governor also wanted these new innovators to supply him with samples so that he could get more technical assistance from the government level to them. Some of the new machinery for food industries, construction, consumer, electronics and agriculture too saw increased sales this year.

The event was organised by Lanka Exhibition & Conference Services (Pvt) Ltd (LECS), in association with the Chamber of Commerce & Industries of Yarlpanam (CCIY) and endorsed by International Business Council, The Ministry of Industry & Commerce and the Consulate General of India in Jaffna.

The main Sponsor for this year’s event was Insee Cement, a stall holder for over a decade. Ruhunu Foods tied up to become the Official Food Partner for the event. Official Telecommunication Partner was Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd. who have been part of the event for 12 consecutive years since 2010. Official Safety & Hygiene Partner is Sun Match Company (Pvt) Ltd.

The event’s long-standing education pavilion “Kalvi” will also featured many higher education institutions at the event .

JITF provided an annual platform to reach a large portion of the market in Jaffna, both consumers and businesses based in Jaffna and in the North, visit the show and this year too over 30,000 visitors from diverse demographics visit the exhibition under health guidelines. .
