Amended Intellectual Property Act gets clearance

The Cabinet of Ministers approved Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena’s proposal to publish the amended Intellectual Property Act no.36 of 2003 in the Government Gazette and subsequently submit it to Parliament.

Co-Cabinet Spokesman Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila told the weekly Cabinet media conference held yesterday that the Cabinet of Ministers granted their consent to bring amendments to the Intellectual Property Act no.36 of 2003 to meet the present requirements at the Cabinet meeting held on October 12, 2020. Accordingly, the clearance of the Attorney General has been received for the Bill drafted by the Legal Draftsman.
