‘Construction Industry in jeopardy’

The hike of fuel prices and the dollar problem have severely affected the Construction Industry, National Construction Association of Sri Lanka General Secretary Susantha Liyanarachchi said.

He said that labour and transportation are now more expensive and this situation greatly affected small and medium scale enterprises. He said that the prices of imported raw materials have gone up six fold causing costs to go beyond their budgets.

He also said that the situation is so uncertain that they are unable to guess the cost or the profit of their projects. He also said that most of the main industrialists are affected by the fluctuation in prices.
