NCE hosts webinar on the US market for agro-food exports

The National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE), in collaboration with the United States government’s Agency for International Development (USAID) project to accelerate results in trade, national expenditure, and revenue (PARTNER), hosted a webinar on ‘Understanding the U.S. Market for Agro-food Exports’ for NCE members and other interested exporters. This webinar follows on from the recent NCE-USAID PARTNER webinar on U.S. regulations and compliance requirements for agro-food exports. The Market webinar featured insights from Stewart Pierce Gardner, Trade Specialist at Deloitte Consulting LLP, regardingthe U.S. market for agro-foods, including information on the market size and growth, segments and competition, trends and opportunities, and challenges.

Menaka Wanniarachchi, Operations Director at NCE, and Malith Gunasekara, Chief of Party for the USAID/PARTNER project, provided context for Sri Lankan agro-food exporters regarding the overall U.S. agro-food market trends, Sri Lankan agro-food products of interest to U.S. consumers and key buyers, and market access considerations. Sarada De Silva, Chairman of B Darsin de Silva & Sons Pvt Ltd/Past President of NCE, moderated a Q&A session following the presentations. NCE is the only private sector chamber that exclusively serves Sri Lankan exporters. The main aim of the Chamber is to provide support services required by Sri Lankan exporters to enhance exports.

The USAID PARTNER project, implemented by Deloitte Consulting Overseas Projects LLC, aims to identify unique and innovative methods to facilitate private sector, government, and civic stakeholders in supporting locally-driven, politically feasible progress on core issues impeding government efficiency, trade, and investment in Sri Lanka.
