I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE

The name of Jesus appears to bother many people and make them angry or they feel a sense of embarrassment.

Why?

The more I thought, the more confused I became.

Then it hit me hard.

This Carpenter from Nazareth had already established himself as the Son of God. Some intellectuals who never believed this rushed to Old and New Testaments for double-checking. If I happened to be in this group, I will do the same for clarification.

Incidentally, there were two books I could read backwards. (Shakespeare’s works and The New Testament) but with time, I am not that clever. Today, this miracle book called THE HOLY BIBLE is in the hearts of all Christians as well as non-Christians. It has revolutionised the whole literary world. This is the absolute truth.

The New Testament clearly presents Jesus as God and the name means Saviour. Christ is derived from the Greek word Messiah and means ‘anointed one’. People who lived at that time of Christ misunderstood him as some of us misunderstand him today. Jesus not only claimed spirituality with God as his father and he was with the Father everywhere. He hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust that He might bring us to God because the gift of God is eternal through Him.

At that time, the Jews were taking refuge in the promised Messiah. The apostles believed the same as the people around him. Jesus was so unlike the people around him. We can see in the New Testament the attitude of the apostles around him. They found it impossible to believe the idea of the Messiah with them.

There was also confusion among the learned Jews because they were forbidden to do any work on the Sabbath: So the Jewish leaders began harassing Jesus for breaking the Sabbath rules and the calm and collected Jesus corrected them saying his Father is always working and so am I. The determined Jews intellects tried harder to find a way to kill Jesus for not only breaking but the calm and collected Jesus corrected them. (John 5)

The non-radicals stood by Jesus. If Jesus called his father God, it is a perfect example we all are believing Christians call God our Father but hard as they tried, Jesus made it clear above any of their baseless arguments, he was spiritually correct and guided by his Father who was in heaven.

All have sinned and come short of the glory of God and all of us like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way. It is appointed unto men to die, but after this judgement.

The wage of sin is death.

Except a man be born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit. A man is not justified by the works of the law. By grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourself? It is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast.

We all Christians know that Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life; no man cometh to the Father, but by me, neither is there salvation in any other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

It is only in the presence of God that we receive His power. The Word of Jesus is alive. If a person is filled with Holy Spirit, God is not finished with Him but it is the beginning to bring about the transformation in us. Truth can set us free from guilt and condemnation because God is there to save us and put us on the right track. Even without our knowledge, we become his flock to eradicate the tricks of Satan. By rejecting him and speaking from our hearts we become the powerhouse to God for His words are full of power and spirit and purpose of the heart.

Let everyone who is godly pray….. pray to you in a way he found; surely when the great waters overflow, they shall not reach him. (Psalm 32). He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalm 91) If you do not spend some time with God, you are cutting yourself off from His love. We really need to understand the awesomeness of God’s presence, believe in what he says. You may wish to listen to Christian music and worship, other times you will opt to sit and enjoy the silence. Whatever you do, feel the presence of God by you, open up your heart and let Him abide.

Frustrated at their attempts to kill Jesus, they planned really to kill him because of their hatred of Jesus. During the Feast of the Dedication in Jerusalem, some of the other leaders approached Jesus and questioned whether he was Christ. Jesus concluded his comments by saying once again these determined Jews picked up stones to throw at Jesus; at which he said that at his Father’s directions he has done many things for which one are you going to stone me. There was silence on their part as they wondered and reacted strongly to what Jesus said. Yet, they kept at their determination to put an end to his precious life by stirring the Pharisees to uncontrollable anger.

They also threatened him with stoning for blasphemy.

Here, we can stand up for Jesus when they finally realised he was God. Frustrated at their attempts to carry their baseless threats, they back-tracked but with sheer determination to carry over their threats while our precious Jesus Christ carried out his mission as God on Earth. The silence of history is deafening when it comes to the testimony against the resurrection. How much credibility do the disciples deserve for offering their beliefs? Could they have done anything more to show their sincerity?

I will leave you with this thought.
