Assistant Director of the Fertilizer Secretariat of the Anuradhapura District, Bandula Kumara yesterday stated that the company was instructed to immediately inspect the stock of organic fertilizer which contained stones and and provide a fertilizer of recommended standard.
Last week, an organic fertilizer company had distributed stocks of solid organic fertilizer for paddy cultivation in several areas in the Horowpothana Divisional Secretariat Division. The farmers alleged that a type of stone was found in the fertilizer and that the fertilizer was not up to standard. Accordingly, about 1,170 bundles consisting of 40 kilogrammmes of such organic fertilizer had been discovered.
Kumara further said that there is a shortage in the production of this fertilizer and they has been instructed to withdraw the stocks and provide the recommended standard fertilizer.
