The Director-General of Health Services last night issued updated guidelines that need to be followed from the 1st to the 15th of December, 2021 to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Accordingly, weddings can be held with a maximum of 200 guests indoors while for wedding functions held outdoors, 250 guests are permitted. No liquor can be served at weddings.
Other indoor meetings and events can have a maximum of 150 persons, though virtual meetings are strongly encouraged. For private gatherings at an individual’s home, not more than 10 persons can be present. Restaurants can seat a maximum of 100 persons indoors and 150 outdoors. Shops and pharmacies can have one-third of the normal capacity inside. Banks and financial centres can only have a maximum of 15 persons at one time and other customers should wait their turn outside keeping a one metre distance from each other. Salons can serve clients by appointment only.
Day care centres and pre-schools can be opened under health guidelines. Schools will function under health guidelines.
Cinemas can operate at 75 percent of the capacity. Sports activities are allowed with no spectators present. Funerals (non-Covid) should be held within 24 hours and only 20 persons can be present at any given time. Individual worship is permitted at places of worship but religious gatherings should be held according to the stipulated health guidelines. Indoor exhibitions and conventions can be held with the participation of 150 (max) at any given time. Examinations (physical) are permitted with strict adherence to health guidelines keeping hall capacity in mind, while online tests and examinations are encouraged. Tuition classes can be held only for GCE O/L and A/L classes, with 50 percent capacity. Industries and agricultural activities can take place under already issued health guidelines. All other essential services can also continue under health guidelines.
