Two Indian fishermen in custody released

The Kayts Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday ordered the release of two Indian fishermen arrested by the Navy on October 18 for poaching in Sri Lankan waters.

They were produced before Court through Kayts Police. The Magistrate ordered to hand the two fishermen over to India through the Navy.

The Navy rescued these two Indian fishermen of the Indian poaching vessel, which sank northwest of the Kovilan Lighthouse in Sri Lankan waters. Previously, the dead body of another fisherman, who was aboard the ill-fated vessel, was found and handed over to the Indian Coast Guard.
