Easter Attack: Pope assures support to seek justice in letter to Cardinal

Colombo Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith said that he has received a letter from Pope Francis on the Easter Sunday attacks and their probes over the weekend.

He was speaking at an online webinar, which was organized to raise awareness among the Sri Lankans in Europe on seeking justice for the victims of the Easter Sunday attacks.

The Cardinal quoting the letter said His Holiness Pope Francis has assured his support to the course of seeking justice for the victims of the Easter Sunday attacks.

“This situation makes me very sad. I promise to pray more and I remain ready to do whatever you consider opportune. Tomorrow I will speak with the Secretary of State about it. Please count on me and indicate what would be best to be done from here,” His Holiness Pope Francis has stated in the letter.

The Cardinal complained that the investigations surrounding the April 21st Attacks were politicized.“Now it has come to a stage where action is being taken only against a few Muslims who had some kind of link with the terror group. The other recommendations of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry haven’t been implemented,” he further added.
