‘Trainee graduates assigned to Govt. primary schools’

Secretary to the Ministry of State Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government J. J. Rathnasiri has informed all District and Divisional Secretaries countrywide to assign all trainee graduates who are now employed at their offices to Government primary schools from October 21, Kurunegala Senior Divisional Secretary R. M. Jayaratne told the Daily News yesterday.

"The District Secretaries and Divisional Secretaries have been instructed to appoint about five trainee graduates to each Government school which has less than 200 students as at present. Accordingly, these trainee graduates have been given appointment letters by District and Divisional Secretaries to work at Government schools with effect from October 21," Jayaratne added.

President of Kurunegala District Government School Principals’ Association W. M. Dharmasena told the Daily News that 98 percent of Government school Principals, teachers of the Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts have already decided to report for duty on October 21 as students have suffered for two years.

“We are quite satisfied with the assurances given to teachers by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to solve our salary anomalies,” he added.
