Sri Lankan shines at 7th Sakarya Student Short Film Festival

The short film, Mutton, written and directed by Hasantha Dissanayake, a young Sri Lankan filmmaker of Kithulampitiya, Galle, has been selected for the final jury selection at the 7th Sakarya International Student Short Film Festival in Turkey.

The festival, organised by the Sakarya University in Turkey, was held from October 12 - 14.

The Festival is organised to encourage students who are interested in cinema in Turkey and abroad. Hasantha Dissanayake, who holds a degree in Film and Television Education from the University of Kelaniya, has made the 12-minute short film Mutton for his final year assignment. Dissanayake has created the film based on the short story, Lamb to the Slaughter, written by Roald Dahl.

The short film by Hasantha Dissanayake contested with 7,000 creations from 197 countries.

Hasantha Dissanayake said that his short film has been screened at a number of global film festivals in India, Iran, Butan and Nigeria where it had been commended.
