Husband arrested for wife's death

The Vavuniya Puvarasankulama Police have taken into custody a man whose wife died of suspicious circumstances in a fire at her house.

Neighbours who had seen smoke coming through the doors and windows of the house where the woman had lived had gone and looked inside the house and found the woman lying on the floor with severe burn injuries.

The woman was rushed to hospital but succumbed while receiving treatment.

The deceased is 44-year-old mother of three of Kanthapuram, Vavuniya.

Her husband had been working in an organization which removed mines but had left the organization and there had been frequent fights and quarrels within the family, according to what neighbours had told the Police. Steps have been taken to produce the suspect who was taken into custody by the Puvarasankulama Police, in Court.
