RAD defaults in EPF payments, allege employees

The North Central Road Development Authority (NCRAD) has not paid almost Rs. 9 million in EPF dues, its employees alleged.

The employees alleged that they have not been paid EPF dues from 2006 to 2013 by the RAD in North Central Province. Around 125 employees are entitled to EPF dues. However, most of them have already retired while some of others have died. The employees are further alleged that the Labour Office in Anuradhapura has not taken any action yet into the complaint lodged with it by the RDA employees.

Assistant Labour Commissioner in Anuradhapura C.N.M. Chandrasekara said the Labour Office had received the list of relevant information from the North Central Province RDA last week. The Institution is alleged to have defaulted in paying EPF payments to those who have claimed their benefits. "The defaulted amount is being assessed at present and action will be taken to pay the EPF dues to the employees once the calculation process is over," Chandrasekara added.
