A suspect who broke into two Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) in the Anuradhapura and Minneriya Police Divisions and stole cash worth nearly Rs.7.6 million has been arrested by the Anuradhapura Police in the Pallama area.
The 30-year-old unmarried suspect, a resident of Eppawala, had stolen Rs.7.6 million from the ATMs.
According to the Police, the suspect had bought a small lorry worth more than Rs. 2.4 million, a motorcycle worth Rs. 954,000 and household items worth Rs.170,000 using the stolen money.
Police have found two DVRs with CCTV data and equipment used by the suspect to break into the ATM’s. The suspect is to be produced in Courts.
