MP Rishad Bathiudeen has been remanded till October 14 by the Colombo Magistrate Court over the death of a 16-year-old domestic worker

Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya ordered MP Rishad Bathiudeen to be further remanded till October 14, over the case of a teenage domestic worker who died of burn injuries while serving at the Bathiudeen household.On July 15, the 16-year-old girl, who was serving as a domestic help at the Bathiudeen’s residence, succumbed to severe burn injuries, while receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.
She had been under medical care for 12 days since her admission to hospital on July 3.
The girl, who was residing in the Dayagama area, had been 15 years of age when she was brought to the MP’s residence at Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7, for domestic work last October.
