RATs for Quarantine Curfew violators in Batticaloa

Ninety-nine people who violated the travel restrictions, the Quarantine Curfew by opening their shops in the Batticaloa MOH areas were arrested and 17 of them were found to have contracted COVID-19 after been subjected to Rapid Antigen Tests(RATs), MOH Dr. K.Kirisuthan said on Tuesday.

The Quarantine Curfew violators were arrested at Station Road, Bar Road, Koolavady and Koddaimunai.

This exercise was carried out by the MOH with the help of the Batticaloa Police and Koddaimunai PHI T. Mithunraj. "Those who violate the Quarantine Curfew and flout the travel restrictions will be arrested and will have to undergo Rapid Antigen Tests," sources said. Meanwhile, the regional authorities warned that torrential rains could lead to the fast spread of COVID-19 and Dengue in the area in the future.

An awareness campaign was organized by the health officials to advise the people to take precautions against the spread of Dengue. In addition to visiting households and instructing the people, the health officers also continue to identify potential Dengue breeding sites and clear them.
