SP reports 120 COVID deaths last week

COVID killed 120 persons in the Southern Province last week, Provincial Health Services Director Office sources said. The Matara District reported 32 deaths, while the Hambantota District reported 19 deaths. The highest number of deaths (69) was reported from the Galle District, the sources said.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 765 residents of the Southern Province had died of COVID. The highest number (511) was reported from the Galle District. The Matara and Hambantota Districts reported 177 and 77 COVID deaths, the sources added.
