PM to present house for Paralympic Gold medallist

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa made arrangements to present a new house for Paralympic Gold medalist Dinesh Priyantha Herath.

Thirty-five-year-old Herath who finished first at the F 46 Javelin throw with a world record 67.79 m became the first Sri Lankan athlete to win a Gold medal at the Paralympics .

The medal winners with National Paralympics Committee (NPC) officials met Prime Minister Rajapaksa at Temple Trees last Wednesday (8). The Prime Minister congratulated the Para athletes, coaches and NPC officials for their historic achievements and bringing fame and glory to the country. The Prime Minister said the Government will continue to provide the necessary facilities for training for all athletes. The Prime Minister also instructed Urban Development and Housing Ministry Secretary Sirinimal Perera to present a suitable house from the Colombo Housing Project. Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa and State Minister Thenuka Vidanagamage also graced this occasion.
