Health Minister Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella said that the use of oxygen in Sri Lankan hospitals has decreased significantly now compared to the last few weeks.

The daily oxygen consumption on some days had increased to around 140 tonnes, the Minister said.

He said that in addition to local production, steps had been taken to order oxygen from India, Singapore and China.

Minister Rambukwella said that due to the successful vaccination and proper management in the country, the disease is now largely under control and the support of all parties is required in this regard further.

The Minister also said that all necessary steps have been taken to bring the second dose of Sputnik-v vaccine for the Kandy District soon.
