Read aloud, virtually!

The Read Plus Foundation which organised the world’s first online book fair in 2020 with the participation of many foreign publishers, is currently organising Sri Lanka’s first-ever Virtual Book Fair. The Virtual Book Fair will be held from September 15 to 30. In addition to online book sales, the exhibition will feature book talks, webinars, discussions, various literary programmes and competitions for children and adults, live book launches etc. over a period of 15 days. The organisers believe it will be a refreshing experience for book lovers in the country. More information about the exhibition can be obtained from

The Read Plus Foundation is a consortium of 15 leading publishing houses in Sri Lanka. Over the past three years, the members of the Foundation have been playing a major role in expanding and exploring the publishing industry, engaging in various reading activities and promoting literature in Sri Lanka and abroad. One of the highlights was the first International Children’s and Youth’s Book Fair in Sri Lanka and South Asia, scheduled to be held in June this year. Although postponed due to the pandemic situation, arrangements are currently being made to hold it next year. A number of international book fair organizations, including the Frankfurt International Book Fair, and the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) are involved in the exhibition.
