Death of journalist Pragas Gnanapragasam

Pragas Gnanapragasam, a 26-year-old Tamil journalist from Jaffna, passed away due to COVID-19 on Thursday.

Gnanapragasam had tweeted in his account that he was refused to be given the COVID-19 vaccine as he was a muscular dystrophy patient.

Gnanapragasam, a native of Kodikamam, was an independent journalist writing for magazines and newspapers in the North and East. He was awarded the Raviraj Memorial Award in recognition of his contribution to Society for Integration Activities Through Social Media, as a Journalist in 2019.

“Shocked to hear that Pragas Gnanam succumbed to the COVID battle a short while ago. Just spoke to him a few hours ago. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. He was such a brave journalist and a kind human being. He will always be remembered,” the Prime Minister’s Coordinating Secretary G. Casslingam tweeted.
