Inclement weather disrupts big onion cultivation

The ongoing inclement weather has disrupted big onion cultivation in the Matale District, agriculture officials said.

They added that the lack of fertiliser and the prevalence of pests were two other factors that adversely affected big onion cultivation in the district.

Furthermore, although the Dambulla and Laggala areas have 2,000 hectares of big onion cultivation land, it is expected that this year’s yield would be significantly less.
