Sathya Sevwandi the athlete turned volleyball player

Sathya Sevwandi is a talented volleyball player and athlete having represented her school Tissapura MV, Uhana, Ampara with distinction.

Initially, she won the 100m, 400m and long jump events at the Inter-School Sports Meets and emerged as the Under-10 Girls’ champion.

In 2015, she gave up athletics and took to volleyball under the guidance of Coach Indika Pushpakumara.

She immediately showed her prowess and helped her school emerge champions in the Under-14 All-Island Schools Volleyball Tournament.

She also played a major role in helping her school to emerge runners-up at the National Schools All-Island Tournament and Under 15 champions in the DSI Volleyball Tournament.

In the National Schools Tournament Tissapura MV beat Kirindiwela National School and Sathya was named Best Attacker of the Tournament.

Sevwandi captained the team in 2019 and under her leadership Tissapura MV clinched the District Championship and in the DSI All-Island Tournament.

She also had the opportunity of representing the Super Kings Volleyball Team, Ampara in the President’s Open Gold Cup Tournament.
