‘Jenny’ and ‘Roma’ to detect dengue breeding grounds

The Police Kennels Division has successfully trained two Police dogs to detect dengue breeding grounds, Police Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said.

He told the media that the two Police dogs named ‘Jenny’ and ‘Roma’ attached to the Kandy Police Kennels Division have been trained for this purpose.

‘Jenny’ and ‘Roma’ will be assigned to operations carried out by the Police Environment Division, while also supporting the efforts of Public Health Inspectors to identify dengue breeding grounds.

The Police Spokesperson said a decision has been made to train around another 200 Police dogs for the same purpose.

He pointed out that the Police dogs also support the activities of tracing criminals, and investigating explosives and narcotic substances.
