Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi will make a special statement in Parliament every Tuesday of the Parliament week updating the House and the public on the latest situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
Former Prime Minister and UNP MP Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday (03) requested Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi to make this special statement.
Accordingly, Minister Wanniarachchi agreed, pointing out that it would be more comprehensive as there are many questions on the COVID-19 pandemic situation directed during the Oral Questions session.Wickremesinghe pointed out that this system is currently active in the UK Parliament and that by implementing it, more accurate information can be made public.
Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena also agreed to the Motion.
