Woman arrested for infanticide

Kantale Police arrested a woman for killing an infant in the Trincomalee Kantale Police Division yesterday evening.

She is a 35-year-old mother of three of Kantalai Peraru Madrasa Nagar. Her neighbors told Police that the infant had been born last Sunday night (11) and she had killed her and thrown away, Police said.

The body was taken to the Kantale Field Hospital for an autopsy after a Kantale Court Judge visited the site yesterday, Police said. The woman had been admitted to the Kantale Field Hospital, Police said.

Investigations are continuing.
