Guava, banana and chilli cultivations will be geared in the Anuradhapura District under the North Central Provincial Agriculture Modernisation Project.
Initially, the Rajanganaya, Ipalogama, Talawa and Galnewa DS Divisions have been selected for banana, guava and chilli cultivations. Banana will be grown in 1,000 acres, guava in 875 acres and chilli in 200 acres.
The Provincial Agriculture Department invests Rs. 600 million in these cultivations. About 40,000 maize seeds will also be produced using 100 acres in Galenbindunuwewa.
Guava and banana will be exported. About 1,300 farmers are cultivating banana and guava now.
