Trade Unions met Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Lbaour Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva and Regional Cooperation State Minister Tharaka Balasuriya and discussed the resolutions by the European Parliament and possible risks that Sri Lanka would undergo if they withdrew the GSP+.
Five Trade Unions attended the meeting and they include the Free Trade Zones and General Services Employees Union, Free Trade Union Confederation, Ceylon Trade Industry and General Workers Union, United Trade Union Confederation and the National Union of Seafarers Sri Lanka.
The upcoming challenges were discussed at length with the Foreign Minister. Sri Lanka is closely working with the European Commission to address the issues raised by the European Parliament, the Ministers said.
