Saubhagya Production Villages for People-Centric Economy – State Minister Herath

The Samurdhi, Home Economy, Micro Finance, Self-Employment and Enterprise Development Ministry is implementing the Saubhagya Production Villages to create a people-centric economy under the patronage of Company Estate Reforms, Tea and Rubber Estates Related Crops Cultivation and Factories Modernization and Tea and Rubber Export Promotion State Minister Kanaka Herath.

State Minister Kanaka Herath said that the local manufacturing industry is being strengthened by the Government. “The Samurdhi Ministry and other Ministries are promoting local products, agriculture and other industries,” he said.

He was speaking at a meeting of pottery makers in the Kegalle District recently.

“The Government has introduced the Saubhagya Production Villages to contribute to regional and national development by strengthening the economy of the rural people through rural industries,” the State Minister said. “Rs. 10 million will be spent on uplifting the Pottery Industry. Financial assistance for electricians will be provided. Kilns, clay tempering machines and workshops will be facilitated of the rural people,” he said.

Kegalle District Secretary Mahinda S. Weerasuriya, Additional District Secretaries Charitha Illangakoon and Dinisha S. Ratnayake, Rambukkana Divisional Secretary Indika Liyanage and District Planning Director A. Weerakoon were present.
