Reshani Dilka the netball star from Homagama

Netball player, school games captain and school netball captain for nine years in various age groups Wanniarachchilage Don Reshani Dilka has brought immense glory to her school Mahinda Rajapaksa Vidyalaya, Homagama with her deeds on the netball court

She was born on 3rd April 2004 and admitted to Subarathi Vidyalaya Godagama in 2009 and the then Principal was Mr. Wimalasiri and her first class teacher was Mrs. Nayana and from Grade one to Grade Eight she did not take part in any sports. She passed the Grade Five Scholarship Examination in 2009 and in 2010 she was drafted to Mahinda Rajapaksa Vidyalaya.

Her parents Channa Mohan Dilip Kumara and Jenny Cleyen encouraged their daughter to do at least one game and she opted to take part in netball and she came under sports teacher in Charge Mrs. Samadi. She participated in the Inter House Netball Tournament in 2010 and her house won the Championship and in the following year she was selected to the under 13 school Netball Team and in the first year she participated in Friendly, Divisional and Zonal Matches and in the following year she captained the house team in 2013 and they clinched the trophy and she represented the Divisional Team

She captained the under 15 team too and at the Inter House meet her house were victorious and they were the Divisional Champions and in the 2014 Inter House Competition she was adjudged as the Best Player and in the Divisional too they were the Champions and became third in the Zonal Tournament and in the same year she captained the school team at the Milo Tournament

Then in 2015 in the Inter House Tournament she led the team and won the Divisional and Zonal Tournaments and participated in the All Island Milo Tournament and in 2016 too they won the Divisional and Zonal under her leadership and took part at the Provincial All Island Milo Tournaments and in 2017 after winning the Inter House and Divisional tournament they came second in the Zonal and participated in the All Island Milo and Provincial Tournaments and she captained the team and with all these performances under her belt she was selected for the under 17 girls squad for the tour of Malaysia. In 2018 under her captaincy they won the Inter House Divisional and Zonal Tournaments and she was adjudged as the Best Player and participated in the Milo Tournament.

In 2019 she carried away the Best Player’s Award at the school tournament and won the Divisional and District level and participated for the Milo Tournament in District Level and their Coach and teacher in Charge of Netball was Mrs. Harsha Gayanthi and later Mrs. Meduka and Mrs. Dammi. Reshani was the Games Captain of the school in 2018.
