Man from Rameswaran arrested in Mullaitivu

Mullaitivu Police have arrested a man who had illegally arrived in the area from Rameswaran, India by boat.

The Police had arrested him on a tip-off received by the intelligence officers. When questioned by the Police he had admitted that he had come to Mullaitivu with the help of a fishing boat after living in an Indian refugee camp.

The 42-year-old was produced before the Mullaitivu Magistrate’s Court by the Mulliyawalai Police and was handed over to health officials amidst Police protection after the Magistrate ordered him to be sent to a quarantine centre after undergoing a PCR test and submit the report to Court.
