The Rs.5000 allowance has been paid so far to 121,759 families whose livelihood have been affected by The COVID 19 pandemic in The Gampaha district,” Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said.
It has been decided by the Economic Revival and Poverty Alleviation Committee to distribute Rs.5000 allowance to families affected adversely by the COVID-19 third wave. Accordingly, under the first stage, 121,759 Samurdhi beneficiary families have been paid Rs.608,795,000 .
Under the second stage, other low income families and families whose livelihoods have been affected by COVID-19 will also be paid the Rs.5000 allowance.
Minister Ranatunga said the Government is committed to provide relief to the people whose livelihoods have been affected by the pandemic while taking stringent measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
