Bourse reverts to green

The Colombo bourse revert to the green territory yesterday amidst several positive factors such as the enthusiasm created via the Invest-Sri Lanka investment forum and effective vaccination roll out process amidst the arrival of two million doses of China-made Sinopharm vaccine between June 6 to 8.

Thus, the All Share Price Index increased by22.1 points (+0.3%) to close at 7,564.3led by local investor participation whilst S&P SL20 Index also gained by 9.5 points (+0.3%)to close the day at 3,042.5. Moreover, Melstarcorp, Lion Brewery, Distilleries, Hemas Holdings and Ceylon Cold Stores remained as the top positive contributors to the ASPI during the day.

The top traded counters for the day were Royal Ceramics LKR117.2, MelstarcorpLKR 113.4 mn, LOLC Holdings LKR87.8 mn, Alumex LKR84.4 mn and Dipped Products LKR68.2 mn. Foreigners were net sellers recording an outflow of LKR 21.4 mn during the day.

Foreign purchases stood at LKR78.1 mn, whilst total foreign sales amounted to LKR56.7 mn.

People’s Insurance, Laugfs Power(Voting & Non-Voting) and HNB Finance (Voting &Non-Voting)touched their 52-week high prices yesterday whilst Prime Land Residencies and SMB Leasing reached its 52-week low price point. Further, SMB Leasing (Voting &Non-Voting),Alumax, Prime Land Residencies, Royal Ceramics and Industrial Asphalts remained as the most actively traded stocks for the day. Additionally, no off-board crossings were recorded during yesterday’s trading session.
