Samurdhi beneficiaries in the Galle District are receiving the COVID allowance of Rs. 5,000 now, Galle District Secretary Shantha Weerasinghe said.
The District Secretary was speaking at a media briefing at the Galle District Secretariat on Friday.
The Galle District has 75,499 Samurdhi beneficiaries and of them, 35,000 beneficiaries have already received the Rs.5,000 allowance, he said.
Families who have lost income due to the corona pandemic have been identified for the allowance, the District Secretary said.
