The water level of the Kalu Ganga has been observed rising to ‘minor flood level', stated the Irrigation Department.
A high rainfall exceeding around 175 mm has fallen in most of Middle Reach / Downstream catchment areas of Kalu River basin.
Accordingly the Department stated that, "By analyzing the current rainfall situation and river water level of Hydrological stations in Kalu River, it is warned that there is a high possibility of further increasing current minor flood situation in low line areas of Kalu River Valley situated in Horana, Agalawatta, Ingiriya, Painda Nuwara, Bulathsinhala, Dodangoda, Millaniya, Madurawala and Kalutara D/S Divisions".
Residents of the area and drivers of vehicles passing through the area are requested to be vigilant of the floods.
The Irrigation Department urges the Disaster Management Divisions to take necessary steps in this regard.
