Politicians should not interfere in vaccination, distribution of Rs. 5,000 – State Minister Duminda

Politicians should not interfere in the COVID 19 vaccination and distribution of the Rs.5,000 dry food package since there are adequate government officials to carry out those, Renewable Energy Resources Development State Minister Duminda Dissanayeke said.

He was addressing Mihintale COVID 19 Prevention Committee Meeting recently at the Mihintale Pradeshiya Sabha (PS).

Fifty three COVID cases have been detected from a Mihintale garment factory. Around 1,500 employees there and their close associates will be quarantined. The State Minister said that no priority will be given to any institute, person or a group in the vaccination programme.

“President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa have instructed to vaccinate every eligible person by December. This is not a time to fight for trade union rights or to involve in petty political issues for gaining undue advantages,” the State Minister said.

Vaccines will be given adhering to the electoral register to avoid human errors. Field Officers headed by Grama Niladaris will assist the programme. State Minister Dissanayeke instructed Healthcare Officials to focus on those who suffer from CKD, cancer and other chronic diseases during the vaccination.
