The total number of COVID 19 infected persons from Divulapitiya, Peliyagoda, Prisons and the New Year Cluster as of yesterday morning stands at 192,547.
Of them 3,306 were detected on Wednesday. The highest number (1,004) were reported from the Gampaha District and 501 from the Colombo District.
The number of patients being treated in hospitals and Intermediate Treatment Centers stands at 30,267 and the number of recovered is 160,714.
The death toll has risen to 1,566 with the Director General of Health Services confirming 39 more deaths on Wednesday (2).
The Epidemiology Unit states that 49,378 doses of Sinopharm vaccine were given on Wednesday (2). The Sputnik V vaccine first dose has been given to 18,514 people. As of Wednesday (2), 1,834,798 people had received the first dose of one of the three vaccines, the Covishield, Sinopharm and Sputnik V.
The number of people who have been given the second dose since April 23 is 350,163, and all of them are people who have been vaccinated with Covishield, the Epidemiology Unit stated.
