Minister of Industry Wimal Weerawansa, is scheduled to represent Sri Lanka at the 24th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2021) to be held in Russia from 02-05 June 2021.
The International Economic Forum, will be attended by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and top diplomats from around 120 countries, will be attended by heads of international economic organizations, CEOs of state and private companies in Russia and other countries.
The ‘St. Petersburg International Economic Forum’, which began in 1997, has now become the foremost global economic forum that provides a great opportunity for diplomats to discuss key issues on the global economic agenda and to suggest viable solutions through global cooperation.
Anton Kobayakov, Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee of the Russian Federation, said that the Economic Forum, which is being held under the full guidance of the World Health Organization, will help identify the new developments and standards that are emerging in the world economy in the current challenging period and take them forward on a global scale.
Wimal Weerawansa, Minister of Industries, Ranjith Wimalasuriya, Additional Secretary to the Ministry and Anushka Gunasinghe, Coordinating Secretary to the Ministry of Industry are also participating in this International Economic Forum on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka.
