Vaccination programme being implemented successfully – State Minister Piyal

The whole country knows who Basil Rajapaksa is. He is the most far -sighted, intelligent, and efficient politician who performed a very dedicated, and extremely difficult political campaign with the close association of the citizens of this country for a successful path,which resulted in getting elected people’s President, Primary Education, School Infrastructure and School Services State Minister Piyal Nishantha De Silva said. The State Minister was responding to journalists on why Basil Rajapaksa left the country when the State Minister on an inspection tour to look into the affairs and short comings at a newly set up COVID-19 Treatment Centre in Beruwala recently.

“Like all other politicians, Basil Rajapaksa has a personal life, so he left the island to be with his loved ones - his wife and the child. What's the wrong with it,” he asked.

“The Opposition and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) are in fear that Basil Rajapaksa will come to the political stream because he is the only challenge the Opposition has,” he said.

He said that the Opposition is in making .an unsuccessful attempt to stop Basil Rajapaksa's forward march in politics.

“The Opposition has started a politically hypocritical campaign to mislead the citizens in the country by making baseless allegations against President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Premier Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Health Authorities who are attempting to control the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.

“Now the Opposition says the vaccination drive is unsuccessful and the Government has no proper plan to vaccinate the masses,” the State Minister said.

He asked the Opposition what have been done by the Opposition to control the pandemic

“The opposition is making untrue criticisms against the Government, which is very successfully controlling the pandemic,” he said

“Once they said the vaccination was unsuccessful, but when the health authorities started vaccinating the people efficiently, the Opposition became silent,” he said.

“Even though the Government is successfully controlling the pandemic, citizens in the country do not have discipline,” he said.

The Premier of New Zealand said that they could control the COVID-19 pandemic easily, because the citizens in New Zealand were well-disciplined.

He asked why people in Sri Lanka cannot follow the guidelines issued by the Health Ministry to control the pandemic.

“Health staffers at the IDH Hospital were safe from the pandemic because they strictly follow the guidelines,” he said.
